To customize the hanging length of your pendant light fixture, follow these steps. First, consult your light fixture's instruction manual. Determine the ideal length for your space by removing chain links. You might also need to trim the electrical and ground wires, but only after you've finalized the overall length. Next, carefully open the chain links at both ends of the chain. Attach an open chain link to the chain holder and slide the collar and canopy onto the chain. Then, connect the other open chain link to the chain loop and secure the chain links. Now, feed the wires through every third chain link. Pass the wires through the collar and canopy, and then up into the outlet box through the chain holder. Strip about 3/8 inch of insulation from the ends of the electrical wires. Connect the fixture's ribbed wire to the white supply wire and the smooth fixture wire to the black supply wire using wire nuts. Connect the fixture's ground wire to the supply ground wire. Finally, tuck the wires neatly into the outlet box and slide the canopy over the chain holder. Secure the canopy to the ceiling by threading the collar onto the chain holder. By following these steps, you can perfectly adjust your pendant light's hanging length to fit your home's unique needs.
