You can bring a service dog to school because the ADA requires schools to allow trained service animals that perform tasks for a person with a disability. The dog must stay under the handler’s control, be leashed or harnessed, and behave appropriately. The student is responsible for the dog’s care, and schools may set up an accommodation plan, such as a 504 plan for K–12 students.
