Obtaining a U.S. Employment Authorization Document (EAD) requires eligibility under categories such as asylum, DACA, refugee status, or a pending green card. Submit Form I-765 to USCIS with photos, identification, proof of status, and required fees. After a biometrics appointment, approval results in your EAD card being mailed, granting legal work authorization.

Selecting the right work visa depends on your job, qualifications, and whether an employer sponsors you. The procedure involves securing a job offer, employer petition submission, and attending a visa interview. Processing durations vary by visa type, typically from weeks to months, and premium processing is an option for certain categories to expedite approval.

To get a U.S. work permit (EAD), you must file Form I-765, follow the instructions carefully, and submit the filing fee. The EAD is usually valid for one or two years, depending on your immigration category. Once approved, USCIS may mail your EAD card, or you could be required to pick it up in person.
