Will Washing the Car Remove Wax?
2 Answers
Washing the car will not remove the wax after application. It is important to inform the detailing shop when the wax was last applied, as after waxing, only regular water washing is needed. Applying solid wax protects the car's paint, preventing marks from rain or chemical substances like bird droppings, and also shields the body from minor scratches. The effect typically lasts about a month, but it is not significantly affected by washing the car. To prevent rust spots on white cars, methods include frequent washing, proper paint protection measures, waxing and sealing, coating and crystal coating, and avoiding parking under trees.
Just washed the car after waxing? I've tried it several times, and normal car washing won't immediately rinse off the wax. After all, wax penetrates into the tiny gaps of the car's paint surface to form a protective film, and regular water pressure plus neutral car shampoo won't damage this layer. However, if you use a high-pressure washer directly against the paint or if the car wash uses strong alkaline cleaners with aggressive scrubbing, the wax can be mostly worn off in just a few days. I always bring a dedicated wax maintenance solution when washing my car, adding a bit when foaming, which can also extend the wax's lifespan.
