Will the GL8 doors automatically lock if the key is left inside the car?

No. There are several scenarios: (1) After turning off the engine and removing the key, if the doors are not locked via the remote, they will not automatically lock even after an extended period. (2) If the doors are locked with the remote but the unlock button is accidentally pressed without anyone actually opening the doors, they will automatically relock within a short time. (3) If someone opens the door, the automatic locking feature will be disabled. Additional information: Car doors can be categorized by their opening mechanisms as follows: 1. Front-hinged doors: These can close with the help of airflow pressure even while the car is moving, making them safer. They also allow the driver better rear visibility when reversing, hence their widespread use. 2. Rear-hinged doors: If not securely closed while driving, they may be forced open by oncoming airflow, making them less common. They are typically used to improve entry/exit convenience or for ceremonial purposes. 3. Sliding doors: Their advantage lies in being able to fully open even when there's minimal clearance between the car body and obstacles.

As a long-time GL8 owner, I've encountered situations where the key was left inside the car multiple times, but the doors never automatically locked. This is quite common with the GL8 because it's mostly equipped with a smart key system. The vehicle can detect when the key is inside and won't execute the auto-locking function, preventing us from accidentally locking the key inside. For example, in my daily use of the 2018 GL8, when I leave the key on the driver's seat or in the cup holder and close the door, the system automatically recognizes the key's presence inside and keeps the doors unlocked, so there's no need to worry. However, it's important to be mindful of the key's location when manually locking the car. If you do lock it by mistake, you can easily unlock it using the mobile app or a spare key. To prevent this, just develop the habit of not leaving the key in random places. The GL8's design makes travel much more worry-free, especially for family use. In short, the fact that it doesn't automatically lock the doors is a major safety plus.

What is the normal tire pressure for a Jetta?

The normal tire pressure range for a Jetta is 2.4-2.5 bar. Due to seasonal factors, the tire pressure can be appropriately increased by 0.2 bar in winter and reduced by 0.1 bar in summer. This data is based on the international GBT2978-2008 standard requirements. The tire pressure monitoring system in the Volkswagen New Jetta can be viewed on the central control screen. The vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system that provides automatic alarm prompts, requiring no manual operation. Generally, a tire pressure exceeding 2.8 bar is considered too high, while a tire pressure below 2.0 bar is considered too low. Hazards of overinflated tires: Reduced tire friction and adhesion, affecting braking performance; causes steering wheel vibration and deviation, lowering driving comfort; accelerates wear on the central tread pattern, shortening tire lifespan; increases vehicle vibration, indirectly affecting the lifespan of other components; overstretches tire cords, reducing elasticity and increasing the load on the vehicle during driving. Hazards of underinflated tires: Increases friction with the road surface, leading to higher fuel consumption; makes the steering wheel heavy and prone to deviation, compromising driving safety; increases movement in various parts of the tire, causing abnormal heat due to excessive rolling; weakens the function of cords and rubber, leading to delamination or cord breakage, and excessive friction with the rim, damaging the tire bead and causing abnormal wear; multiplies friction with the ground, rapidly raising tire temperature, softening the tire, and drastically reducing its strength. High-speed driving may result in a tire blowout. If the tire pressure monitoring indicator light comes on (a yellow symbol with an irregular circle, no stamp on top, four small spikes at the bottom, and an exclamation mark inside), it is generally due to one of the following three reasons: Abnormal tire pressure: Usually triggers an alarm when pressure is below 1.8 bar or above 3.0 bar. In this case, tire inspection and pressure adjustment are required. Tire pressure monitoring not reset: After inflating the tires, the tire pressure monitoring system was not reset in time, causing it to retain the previous data and trigger the indicator light. Simply reset the tire pressure monitoring to resolve this. Damaged tire pressure sensor: The tire pressure sensor, installed inside the tire and connected to the tire valve, monitors tire pressure. If the sensor is damaged during driving (e.g., by hitting a curb), it can also cause the tire pressure warning light to come on. For sensor damage, the only solution is to replace it with a new part.

Is it necessary to install a bug screen on a car?

Whether it is necessary to install a bug screen on a car depends on individual circumstances. If you frequently drive on highways or in areas with many insects, installing one can be beneficial. The bug screen is installed at the front of the car to prevent insect remains from accumulating on the surface of the condenser and radiator. However, it is not recommended for most car owners to install a bug screen because it is a very fine mesh that can obstruct airflow to the radiator, reducing cooling efficiency. That said, bug screens can be useful in rural areas with many insects or during seasons with flying willow catkins, as they provide some protection.

Does Engine Start-Stop Technology Save Fuel?

Engine automatic start-stop systems save fuel, and here are the reasons: 1. Definition: The English name for engine automatic start-stop is STOP&START, abbreviated as STT. The STT intelligent fuel-saving system is a system that controls engine start and stop. 2. Principle: Automatic start-stop is achieved by installing an enhanced motor with idle start-stop functionality in a traditional engine, allowing the engine to completely shut off when the vehicle meets idle stop conditions. When the vehicle needs to start moving again, the idle start-stop motor system quickly responds to the driver's start command, rapidly restarting the engine with instantaneous engagement, thereby significantly reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

Can ETC be installed without sticking it to the windshield?

ETC does not have to be stuck to the windshield. Installing ETC on the upper part of the windshield is to minimize obstruction of the driver's view and to ensure better recognition by highway toll station equipment. As long as the highway toll station's sensing device can detect the ETC device, it can be installed on the car's dashboard or held up by hand when passing through the toll station. This will not affect the transmission of electromagnetic waves in free space. Electromagnetic waves will still refract and reflect when passing through different media, eventually reaching the signal receiver. ETC is an electronic toll collection system, and vehicles that frequently use highways usually install this device to save time when passing through toll stations.

What Causes an Automatic Transmission Car to Suddenly Stall While Driving?

Reasons for stalling: 1. Generator failure: All electrical equipment in an automatic transmission car is powered by the battery, which in turn gets its electricity from the generator. If the generator fails, the ignition system loses power, causing the car to stall. 2. Ignition system failure: The most vulnerable parts in the ignition system are the spark plugs, followed by the ignition coils and cylinder wires. If spark plugs or ignition coils in two or more cylinders fail, the car will stall. 3. Fuel system failure: Low fuel pressure can cause the car to stall. Fuel system issues may include clogged fuel lines, fuel pump failure, or pressure pump failure. Common clog-prone areas include the fuel pump filter screen.

Can You Eat Lychee While Driving?

It is not advisable to eat lychee while driving, as consuming lychee may lead to a false positive in a drunk driving test. Drunk Driving Criteria: Determining drunk driving depends on the alcohol content in one's blood, which is related to the amount of alcohol consumed and the body's ability to metabolize it. According to relevant regulations, a blood alcohol content of 20mg/100ml or higher qualifies as drunk driving, while 80mg/100ml or higher qualifies as severe drunk driving. Penalties for Severe Drunk Driving: Severe drunk driving typically results in the revocation of the driver's license, with a five-year ban on reapplying. In serious cases, it may also lead to detention for one to six months.
