Will the engine seize immediately if the radiator runs out of water?

If the radiator runs out of water, the engine will seize immediately. Without water in the engine radiator, the temperature inside the cylinders will rise rapidly. If excessive heat is not dissipated in time and high-load driving continues, the engine may suffer internal component damage due to overheating. Causes of engine seizure: Engine overheating due to coolant leakage or insufficient water levels in the cooling system, with no timely replenishment. Severe oil deficiency caused by engine oil leakage or excessive consumption. Prolonged high-speed or overload operation of the engine, leading to excessive temperatures. Deformation caused by improper assembly of piston pins or cylinder liners. Excessive clearance between the piston and cylinder. Oil contaminated with a large amount of impurities. Poor lubrication between the piston and cylinder, or the use of inappropriate oil. Methods for repairing engine seizure: If the seizure is minor, it can be easily repaired by replacing the piston and piston rings, along with light honing of the cylinder walls. However, if the grooves reach 0.15mm, polishing repairs are no longer feasible. For diesel engines, replacing the cylinder liner can fix the issue. For gasoline engines, boring the cylinder and replacing the liner can achieve the same result. After repair, a break-in period is still required, but the performance will be as good as new.
