Will the car roll away when in N gear with the handbrake on?

Putting the car in N gear with the handbrake on will not cause it to roll away. Reasons for rolling back on a slope: When an automatic transmission car is on a slope, rolling back is mainly caused by insufficient power. If the slope is not particularly steep, simply pressing the accelerator harder will suffice. Pressing the accelerator harder will give the car more traction, which should be enough for most slopes. If the car starts to roll back, the first thing to do is to step on the brake to stop the rolling, or simply apply more throttle to accelerate forward. Starting on a slope in D gear: For most slopes, an automatic transmission car can start in D gear. If the slope is very steep and the car has a manual mode or S gear, then using the manual mode or S gear will make starting on the slope much smoother.
