For personal sedans and blue-plate minivans, the initial inspection is conducted biennially for the first six years after new vehicle registration; after six years, it becomes an annual inspection; after fifteen years, it transitions to bi-annual inspections; and after over twenty years, inspections occur quarterly. Currently, there are no plans to abolish the second annual inspection for vehicles. Vehicle annual inspection, also known as vehicle annual check, is a mandatory examination for all vehicles with official license plates and registration certificates. It serves as an annual health check for vehicles in accordance with the "Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation," aiming to promptly eliminate potential safety hazards, encourage enhanced vehicle maintenance, and reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents. Vehicle inspection cycle regulations: Operational large buses should be inspected annually within the first five years; after five years, inspections should occur every six months. Trucks and large to medium-sized non-operational passenger vehicles should be inspected annually within the first ten years; after ten years, inspections should occur every six months. Small and micro non-operational passenger vehicles should be inspected biennially within the first six years; after six years, inspections should occur annually; after fifteen years, inspections should occur every six months. Motorcycles should be inspected biennially within the first four years; after four years, inspections should occur annually. Tractors and other motor vehicles should be inspected annually. Operational motor vehicles that pass the safety technical inspection within the stipulated inspection period should not undergo repeated safety technical inspections. Vehicles exceeding the scrapping age limit cannot be transferred (sold) but may continue to be used; if you wish to purchase or sell such a vehicle, you can proceed to the vehicle management office to process the vehicle scrapping certificate (canceling the vehicle file) before purchasing or selling.
