Why won't my Tiguan start?

Tiguan won't start reasons: 1. Dead battery, caused by leaving headlights on for extended periods or expired battery life (recommend replacing battery every 2 years); 2. Incorrect gear position - automatic transmission vehicles must be in P or N gear to start (won't start in R or D gear), some manual transmission vehicles won't start without depressing the clutch. The Tiguan is a vehicle produced by Shanghai Volkswagen, available in 4 trim levels (Urban, Trendline, Highline, and Premium) across 7 models. Dimensions: 4506mm (length) × 1809mm (width) × 1685mm (height) with 2684mm wheelbase.
A few days ago, my Tiguan also suddenly wouldn't start, making me late for the shuttle bus. There could be several reasons: the most common is a dead battery, possibly due to leaving lights on or an aging battery - in this case dashboard lights may still work but the engine cranks weakly; with a faulty starter motor you'll hear clicking but the engine won't turn; if the fuel pump fails there's no fuel delivery and you won't hear its humming; ignition system issues like dirty spark plugs or bad coils prevent firing. Sensor problems like a faulty throttle position sensor can confuse the ECU; or weak key fob battery might trigger the immobilizer. Batteries are more problematic in winter - I once struggled at sub-zero temperatures. First try jump-starting with a friend's car, but don't keep cranking if it fails to avoid damaging more components - call professional help immediately. Regular battery voltage checks and cleaning electrical connections can prevent such issues.
