Jianghuai S5 has not been discontinued yet. Regarding the discontinuation of the JAC Refine S5, it's actually not surprising. It might be due to its market performance not keeping up with popular SUVs like the Haval H6 or Geely Boyue from those big brands. I've test-driven it a few times, and I felt its design and features were decent with good value for money. However, when sales didn't pick up, the manufacturer had to adjust its production plans. Nowadays, many brands are pushing new energy or smart vehicles, and the Refine S5 didn't keep up with this trend. Coupled with fierce competition and intense price wars, the manufacturer decided to halt the old model and focus resources on new models, like JAC's recently launched Sehol series. This rapid model refresh is also a strategy for survival.

As an ordinary person following the auto market, I believe the discontinuation of the JAC Refine S5 was mainly due to poor sales performance. It was quite popular when first launched, attracting many family buyers. However, its reputation declined later due to user complaints about high fuel consumption and simple interior, leading to decreased competitiveness. Compared to similar models, its update pace was slow with no major breakthroughs in engine technology. Seeing limited profitability, the manufacturer decided to abandon the old model line and shift focus to new directions like new energy SUVs or crossover vehicles. This might be good for consumers as they can access more advanced alternatives, such as JAC's newly launched S4 which fills the gap.

From my experience, the discontinuation of a car model is always related to market changes. The JAC Refine S5 might be a result of the manufacturer's strategic adjustment after a sales decline. The SUV market competition is too fierce, with giants like Great Wall and Changan taking the lead. To focus on promoting new brands, JAC simply phased out the older models, which doesn't affect the overall development.
