Why is Wheel Balancing Necessary?
1 Answers
Wheel balancing is required when installing new tires or after any tire disassembly and reassembly. After mounting tires onto rims, the weight distribution is rarely 100% uniform. A balancing machine tests the wheel's balance during rotation, and counterweights (balance weights) are applied at the unbalanced points to ensure smooth driving and prevent vibrations. Here are important considerations for tire purchase and usage: 1. Always check the manufacturing date when purchasing tires: Avoid tires with old production dates. Being rubber products, tires will age even when unused. 2. Regularly inspect tire pressure and surface for damage during vehicle use: The tire sidewall is particularly vulnerable - once punctured or cut, it cannot be repaired. It's recommended to replace tires every four years, even if the vehicle has low mileage during that period.
