Why is there water under the car floor mat?

The reasons for water under the car floor mat are as follows: 1. Sunroof leakage: Sunroof maintenance mainly involves two aspects. First, clean the rubber seal once a year. Second, clean the drainage pipe every two years to check for blockages and properly lubricate the guide rails. Solution: Take the floor mat to a car wash shop and use a vacuum cleaner to remove most of the water. 2. Vehicle floor seepage: The car chassis consists of four parts: the transmission system, running system, steering system, and braking system. It is recommended to go to a repair shop for inspection. Solution: Use dry towels alternately to absorb water under the floor mat until it is clean. 3. Blockage of the drain pipe under the front window glass: Clean the pipe regularly. Solution: Go to a repair shop and use high-pressure air to blow through the pipe to clear it.
I was quite nervous when I found water under the floor mats shortly after I started driving. Recalling recent heavy rain or car washes, the water might have seeped in through gaps in the door seals—those rubber strips can leak if they're old and cracked. It could also be an issue with the AC system; if the condensate drain pipe is clogged, water flows back into the car. If the sunroof’s drainage holes are blocked by leaves or debris, rainwater can also seep down to the floor mats. Residual water left after a car wash can easily accumulate there too. I checked the doors and sunroof myself and found a small gap in one of the seals. I temporarily fixed it with silicone and now regularly clean the drainage holes, which has reduced the problem. Remember, standing water can cause rust and mold, harming the car’s body, so it’s important to dry it out as soon as possible.
