Why Is There Water in the Car Trunk?

Reasons for water in the car trunk are as follows: 1. Sealing strip: The waterproofing of various parts of the car body is ensured by sealing strips, which are made of rubber material. Long-term exposure to the air can cause natural aging of the rubber, and frequent use can also lead to wear and tear, making the sealing strips prone to damage, allowing water to seep in. 2. Trunk deformation: If the shape of the trunk is compromised, it can lead to severe water leakage during rain. Solutions for water in the car trunk: 1. First, drain the water. There is a rubber drain plug at the bottom of the trunk where the spare tire is placed; removing it will allow the water to drain. 2. Locate the source of the leak. Check if the trunk lid is deformed and if the surrounding rubber seals are aged. Use a hose to spray water and observe where water enters, or close the trunk and look for light entering from gaps, marking these spots. 3. Purchase a bottle of silicone sealant, open the trunk, remove the interior trim panel, and apply the sealant to the marked areas, preferably from the outside. The rear bumper must also be removed; sealing is impossible without removal. 4. For aged sealing strips, replace them at an auto repair shop. Additionally, if the car is still under warranty, take it directly to a 4S shop for repairs.
