Why is there a strong smell of gasoline in the car?

There are many possible reasons, such as damage to the fuel supply line, or a faulty fuel filter. Some cars are equipped with a carbon canister, which may not have been replaced for a long time. Additionally, the engine's operating condition can also cause a gasoline smell inside the car. If a certain cylinder is not functioning properly or combustion is incomplete, opening the air conditioner and circulating the air can also produce a strong gasoline smell. The specific reasons are as follows: 1. Fuel tank cap: The fuel tank cap is not sealing properly and needs to be replaced or coated with a 1mm thick layer of grease under the rubber gasket. 2. Fuel supply line: The fuel supply line has minor cracks or damage. 3. Connection points: There are gaps at the connection between the fuel line and the fuel tank (the clamp is not tight enough). 4. Pipes: The carbon canister is filled with gasoline (absorbed). Additionally, it is also necessary to check the air intake filter pipe under the hood, the carburetor pipe (similar in fuel-injected cars), and those rubber pipes, as they are prone to damage over time.
