When the car is reversing, the phenomenon of the reversing radar not making a sound is due to a malfunction in the car's reversing radar system. It may be caused by a short circuit or open circuit in the radar's connecting wires, and the wiring issue needs to be checked promptly. More relevant information is as follows: 1. Exterior Design: The exterior design of the Prado comes from an early daily concept car. The car's styling changes the front grille, incorporating many fashionable elements and technological features while retaining the off-road vehicle style. It maintains the car's body-on-frame structure, allowing easy handling on various road surfaces. 2. Sales: From 2003 when FAW Toyota launched the domestically produced Prado until its discontinuation, the average annual sales were only 20,000 units, making poor sales the direct reason for the model's discontinuation. However, as a once highly promoted model by Toyota, the Prado has outstanding performance, but its positioning was unclear.

Last year, I encountered the same issue with my Prado. The reverse sensors didn't respond at all when I was backing up, which gave me quite a scare. I immediately went to the repair shop. The mechanic first checked the fuse box and found that the fuse for the reverse sensors had blown. After replacing it with a new one, it still didn't work. Then, he checked the wiring connectors and sure enough, one of them was loose. After re-securing it and testing the car, everything worked normally again. The mechanic mentioned that frequent driving on rough roads can easily cause poor connections due to vibrations. He advised regularly cleaning the radar sensors on the rear bumper during car washes to prevent mud buildup from affecting their sensitivity.

Non-functioning reverse radar is quite common on the Land Cruiser Prado, and I've handled many similar cases. Mainly check five aspects: First, see if the radar switch on the center console was accidentally turned off; then open the trunk to check if the wiring was crushed by luggage; the third step is to clean the four sensors on the bumper with a damp cloth; then check the fuse box on the left side of the trunk to see if the 15A fuse labeled RADAR is burnt black; finally, consider a control module failure. I remember the last time I helped a car owner with repairs, it was a faulty relay in the module, which was resolved by spending over 500 yuan to replace it.

Last week, my neighbor's Prado radar malfunctioned, and I went over to take a look. I found that the reverse lights were working but the radar wasn't making any sound, indicating it wasn't an issue with the reverse signal. After lifting the trunk mat to check the wiring, I discovered a wire that had its insulation damaged by the audio installer during modification. After wrapping it with electrical tape, it returned to normal. In such cases, it's crucial to be extra careful not to damage the original car wiring during modifications. Additionally, after snow in winter, make sure to clear the snow from the radar sensors, as ice can cause ultrasonic failures. If the radar isn't working at all, try restarting the engine first, as temporary electronic system freezes can sometimes cause this issue.
