Why is the MG6 not responding when starting?

The reasons why the MG6 does not respond when starting are as follows: 1. Running out of fuel. If the fuel gauge shows below the red line, the car naturally won't start. 2. Dead battery. This could be due to a drained battery from leaving the headlights on for too long or the battery reaching the end of its lifespan. It is generally recommended to replace the battery every 2 years. Additionally, installing xenon headlights, high-power audio systems, or DVD players can also cause electrical circuit issues in the vehicle. 3. Incorrect gear position. For automatic transmission cars, the gear must be in P (Park) or N (Neutral) to start. If it's in R (Reverse) or D (Drive), the car won't start. Some manual transmission cars may also fail to start if the clutch is not depressed. 4. Lack of antifreeze. Some car owners use water or low-quality antifreeze, which can cause the entire cooling system to freeze in extremely cold winter conditions. This can lead to a cracked engine, a non-functional water pump, failure to start, and damage to other engine components. 5. Excessive carbon buildup in the vehicle.
When I first drove the MG6, I encountered a situation where the car wouldn't start. It happened during winter after being parked outside overnight—the next day, turning the key gave no response at all. I asked a car-savvy friend, and he said it was most likely a dead battery, as cold weather accelerates battery discharge. Later, after jump-starting the car, I immediately went to a shop for inspection, and sure enough, the battery had aged and failed. Apart from the battery, issues like a faulty starter motor or ignition switch can also cause no response. If you drive an older car, you should also watch out for loose wiring or rust. Don’t ignore such problems—delaying repairs could damage more components. It’s advisable to turn off unnecessary onboard electronics before starting the car to extend battery life. If you’re handy, buying a simple voltage tester can help you check the battery’s health.
