Why is the left-turn lane on the right?

The most common reason is the turning radius. Since the traditional left-turn lane is on the innermost side, it can easily lead to insufficient turning radius for some buses or large vehicles, preventing them from smoothly passing through the intersection. To prevent road congestion, the left-turn lane is set on the right side. Additionally, when the distance between two adjacent intersections is relatively short, and right-turning vehicles from the previous intersection need to make a left turn at this intersection with high traffic volume, following the traditional left-turn lane setup would result in a large amount of weaving traffic within the limited road space, leading to congestion or even traffic accidents. Therefore, similar adjustments are made.
