Why is the Lavida's auto start-stop not working?

Lavida is a sedan produced by Shanghai Volkswagen. In terms of body dimensions, its length, width, and height are 4605mm, 1765mm, and 1460mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2610mm. The following are the reasons why the Lavida's auto start-stop is not working: 1. Accidentally pressing the start-stop button: Vehicles equipped with auto start-stop function have the system enabled by default. If it suddenly stops working, it may be due to accidentally pressing the auto start-stop button on the car, causing the system to turn off. 2. System recognition issue: If the car is a manual transmission, the conditions for enabling auto start-stop are more complex. When parking, the system will only activate after recognizing the three actions: "shifting to neutral, pulling the handbrake, and releasing the clutch."
I've driven a Lavida for several years, and the auto start-stop sometimes suddenly fails. There are quite a few reasons for this. The most common is battery aging or insufficient charge. The start-stop function requires ample power, and it automatically disables when the charge is low to prevent the vehicle from stalling. Another factor is the system's stringent activation conditions, such as the coolant temperature not reaching the ideal value (around 80 degrees or above) or the seatbelt not being fastened properly, which causes it to stop working. Running the air conditioning too hard might also temporarily turn off this function to prevent compressor overload. Sensor failures, such as a faulty brake position detector reporting errors, can cause the system to enter a protective mode and not activate. Once, my car's sensor failed due to dust accumulation, but it worked again after cleaning. Regular battery checks—generally needing replacement every three years or so—and routine cleaning of related components can help prevent issues.
