Why is the exhaust pipe of Haval H5 so loud?

Reasons for the loud exhaust pipe sound in Haval H5: Idle speed too low: Adjust the idle speed to 750 RPM. If the idle speed is normal, check whether each cylinder of the engine is working properly and if there are any misfiring issues. Loose fixing screws: The exhaust pipe fixing screws are loose or the muffler is faulty. Check and tighten all the fixing screws of the exhaust pipe, and see if the welds between the muffler and the exhaust pipe have come loose. Water vapor issue: When parking, water spraying from the exhaust pipe accompanied by abnormal sounds is generally normal for a properly functioning engine. During the combustion process, a certain amount of water vapor is inevitably generated, and a significant portion of this water vapor condenses into water droplets in the rear exhaust muffler, which are then expelled through the exhaust pipe. This phenomenon is particularly noticeable in lower temperatures and can be seen as an indication of thorough combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders and high efficiency of the exhaust purification system.
My Haval H5 has been getting louder in the exhaust sound after long-term use. At first, I thought it was just normal aging, but upon closer consideration, there are quite a few possible reasons. The most common issue is cracks or holes in the exhaust pipe, which could be caused by corrosion, rust, or road vibrations. The sound-dampening material inside the muffler might also be worn out, leading to uncontrolled noise. When I tried to inspect it myself, I used a damp cloth to wipe the surface of the exhaust pipe – if hot air leaks out, it indicates the problematic area. Another common issue is loose connections, such as bolts at the joints coming undone, causing noise when the car hits bumps. If not repaired in time, it’s not just annoying but also reduces engine efficiency and increases fuel consumption. I recommend owners take their Haval H5 to a professional shop for an exhaust system check every six months to prevent issues, especially since the high ground clearance makes it more prone to damage when driving on rough roads.
