Why is the Corolla Hybrid fuel-efficient?

Because the Corolla Hybrid utilizes a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine. Corolla's fuel efficiency: Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive genuinely saves fuel. Taking the Corolla as an example, its hybrid system built upon the 1.8L naturally aspirated engine achieves approximately 5L/100km fuel consumption, saving about 1.5L compared to the 1.6L naturally aspirated engine version. Corolla's engine: The engine's expansion ratio exceeds its compression ratio, resulting in higher thermal efficiency. The same amount of fuel can generate more power. However, the Atkinson cycle engine can only operate within a very narrow RPM range, making it incapable of meeting normal vehicle operation requirements alone and thus unsuitable as a sole power source.
