Why is the BYD G6 not responding when starting?

The engine starts by the battery current pushing the spark plug to ignite. The sudden failure to start the engine may be caused by rust or leakage of the battery, or the engine spark plug getting damp on rainy days. 1. Battery: When the battery fluid has been used for one to two months, check if there is still battery fluid left. If the fluid level is between the upper and lower two marked lines, it is considered appropriate. Also, check the fluid level difference in each cell. If the fluid level is insufficient, unscrew the cap on the battery and add distilled water to replenish the fluid level. Then, check the battery terminals and use an iron brush to remove accumulated dirt. If the terminal clamps are severely dirty, use sandpaper to rub along the inner wall to remove the dirt. 2. Spark plug: If the spark plug is damp, take it out and use a lighter to bake it to quickly evaporate the moisture on it.
My BYD G6 also had a no-start issue a few days ago, which really worried me. I quickly turned off the engine and pulled over to check. Experience told me that such problems are mostly caused by a dead battery. Using a multimeter confirmed the voltage was indeed too low—since I don’t drive often, the battery wasn’t charged in time and became depleted. It could also be a starter motor failure, such as worn-out gears getting stuck and failing to turn the engine, or an ignition system issue, like faulty key recognition or poor wiring contact. At the time, I tried jump-starting it with another car’s battery, and it worked immediately, but for a permanent fix, I went to the 4S store to replace the battery. If you encounter this situation, I suggest first checking if the battery terminals are loose and seeing whether other electronics like the headlights still work. If they don’t, it’s definitely a battery issue—address it promptly to avoid getting stranded in the wild. Safety first, after all.
