Why is the airbag light on?

The reasons for the airbag light being on are: 1. There may be foreign objects around the airbag sensor wiring harness, especially metal shavings that can cause a short circuit and trigger a false warning light; 2. It could be due to erroneous data sensed by the vehicle's electronic control unit; 3. The warning light might turn on without any apparent reason, possibly caused by the vehicle being parked in a humid environment for a long time or a short circuit at the connection interface during car washing. The driver-side anti-collision airbag is installed in the steering wheel, while the passenger-side anti-collision airbag is usually mounted on the dashboard. The airbag sensors are located on the left, right, and center of the cabin partition, with the central sensor and the airbag system installed together with the electronic control unit.
I've experienced this situation before. When the airbag light is on, it usually indicates an issue with the safety system, which should never be taken lightly. Last time my car's light came on, I realized the airbag might not deploy in time during a collision, posing a direct threat to personal safety. Common causes include sensor failures - for instance, if the position sensor or crash sensor can't detect signals, it will trigger the warning light; wiring may have aged, become loose, or short-circuited; if the airbag control unit malfunctions, the computer can't operate properly. If the light briefly illuminates during ignition startup and then turns off, that's normal self-check behavior. But if it stays on continuously, immediate inspection is crucial. My advice is don't delay - take your vehicle to a professional repair shop or authorized dealership for diagnosis right away. Never let a small warning light put you in danger. Always pay attention to these warning indicators while driving and maintain vigilance.
