Why is it difficult to start after replacing the diesel filter in a China V vehicle?

Difficulty in starting after replacing the diesel filter in a China V vehicle may be due to the system needing some time to adapt to the new filter. The owner can try driving for a while to see if the starting performance improves, or visit a repair shop to have a technician check if other components are damaged. The diesel filter is a wear-and-tear part that requires regular replacement, typically every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers. Regular replacement ensures better diesel quality for combustion, improves engine output power, and enhances vehicle performance. A high-quality diesel filter can effectively block dust and moisture in the diesel, thereby extending the service life of the fuel injection pump and diesel nozzles.
I just had my maintenance done at the repair shop, and after replacing the diesel filter on my China V vehicle, it became difficult to start. I've seen this situation many times—it's mostly caused by air entering the fuel system. Diesel engines rely on high-pressure fuel pumps to operate, and when replacing the filter, the fuel lines are exposed, making it easy for air to enter the fuel system. You need to locate the air bleed screw, loosen it, and slowly pump fuel using the hand primer until diesel flows out continuously without bubbles. If the sealing ring isn't installed correctly or is the wrong model, it can also cause air leaks. Additionally, if the filter quality is poor, it might clog the fuel supply right after installation. Some mechanics work too quickly and don’t fully purge the air, or they might connect the inlet and outlet ports of the filter incorrectly, preventing fuel from reaching the engine. If you encounter this issue, avoid forcing the engine to start, as it can damage the high-pressure fuel pump. It’s best to return to the repair shop and have them purge the air again. My own car had the same issue last time, and it worked perfectly right after purging the air.
