Why is cylinder boring necessary when replacing the four-piece set?

Because cylinder boring is more cost-effective and simpler in process compared to directly replacing the cylinder liner. The main reason might be that the engine block of your vehicle is a linerless cast iron cylinder block, which can only be repaired by boring when facing internal out-of-roundness issues, and such a linerless cast iron cylinder block cannot be fitted with a cylinder liner. The role of cylinder boring: Cylinder boring involves machining and cutting the engine block to repair it from wear and out-of-round damage. The engine block can be evenly cut by 0.25mm or 0.5mm, and after adding new pistons, the engine can be repaired at a low cost. Applications of cylinder boring: This method of cylinder enlargement is suitable for original engine blocks and high-performance vehicles. After repair, it can also extend the engine's lifespan and reduce maintenance costs.
