Why Don't 4S Shops Use Filler-Free Repair?

4S shops do perform filler-free (dentless) repairs, but they are relatively rare. This is because the dentless repair technology is not yet mature, resulting in fewer opportunities for its application. Many vehicles brought in for repairs have body damage that cannot be effectively addressed with dentless repair, so 4S shops tend to stick with the more traditional sheet metal and paint repair methods for reliability. Dentless repair, also known as micro-dent repair, is a technique that restores body dents without the need for repainting or applying filler. Due to its simplicity and significantly higher efficiency compared to conventional body repair methods, dentless repair was initially used mainly for fixing hail damage on cars. However, with technological advancements, larger dents can now be repaired using this method, making it a reliable option as long as the car's paint remains intact. Dentless repair primarily relies on external force to restore dents to their original shape, with two main approaches: the pull-out method and the push-up method.
