Why Doesn't the Cadillac Car Horn Sound When Locking?

The following are the reasons why the Cadillac car horn does not sound when locking: 1. Poor sealing leading to water ingress: If the seal is not tight, water vapor can easily enter during car washing, causing the contacts to become damp and malfunction. 2. Poor contact at the electromagnetic coil terminal: If the insulation paint on the enameled wire end is not completely removed or the rivet crimping is loose, it can easily lead to intermittent contact, resulting in the horn not sounding. This type of fault can only be resolved by replacement, not repair. 3. Prolonged horn use causing contact erosion: Pressing the horn for an extended period can cause the contacts to erode and develop resistance. This weakens the current passing through the electromagnetic coil, preventing it from attracting the armature to drive the diaphragm for normal vibration, thus causing the horn to malfunction. However, when the horn is pressed continuously, the momentary strong current can still pass through the resistance and function normally, leading to intermittent operation.
