I've encountered this situation before too. It's really annoying when the wipers still leave the windshield blurry after wiping. I thought about it and figured out a few main reasons: First, the wiper blades have aged. After two or three years of use, the rubber hardens and deforms, so it doesn't stick to the glass properly when wiping.
