The absence of front fog lights on the new Equinox is a manufacturer's strategy. Automotive fog lights: Installed at the front and rear of a vehicle, fog lights are used to illuminate the road and provide safety warnings during rainy or foggy conditions. Nowadays, many vehicles eliminate front fog lights, and to address severe weather conditions like rain and fog, some models' headlights feature a rain-fog mode. If the Equinox had fog lights, turning them on during low visibility in foggy conditions could enhance visibility for both Equinox owners and surrounding traffic participants, allowing approaching vehicles and pedestrians to spot each other from a greater distance.
