Why does the Lavida Plus have only one reversing light on?

Lavida Plus originally has only one reversing light, with the other side being a fog light. Therefore, only one reversing light is on. Here is some information about reversing lights: 1. For reversing lights, vehicles less than six meters in length are required to have at least one installed, with the option to install a second one. Reversing lights are located at the rear of the car to illuminate the road behind and warn vehicles and pedestrians that the car is reversing. All reversing lights are white. 2. Similar to reversing lights, rear fog lights are also mandatory to have at least one, with the option to install a second one, but it must be located on the left side of the vehicle. Many car brands install only one reversing light and one rear fog light, resulting in only one side being lit for both the reversing light and the rear fog light.
I used to drive a Lavida Plus and also noticed that only one reverse light comes on, which is quite normal. Many Volkswagen models are designed this way, mainly to save costs by using one less bulb and simplifying the circuit. As you can see, regulations don’t require two lights—one is sufficient to alert others that you’re reversing, so safety isn’t an issue. The reverse light is quite bright, so even a single one doesn’t affect nighttime visibility. The other position is usually for a fog light or left empty, but if you feel something’s off, it might be a burnt bulb or poor wiring contact—it’s good to check periodically to avoid unexpected issues. Overall, the design is practical and doesn’t affect daily driving efficiency. I’ve had no issues with it myself.
