Why does the ETC display show 'Tag Invalid'?

When the ETC display shows 'Tag Invalid' and fails to function normally, the primary reasons may be unauthorized removal or relocation of the OBU device by the user, or loosening/detachment of the ETC electronic tag. Since ETC is vehicle-specific and features a protective interlock during installation, there is a push-button switch tightly attached to the car's front windshield. If this button is triggered twice consecutively, it will cause the ETC electronic tag to deactivate. ETC (Electronic Toll Collection), also known as an automatic road charging system, is a dedicated tolling method for fee-based roadways, commonly used on highways, toll bridges/tunnels, and certain urban sections to alleviate traffic congestion.
