Why does the dash cam frequently restart?

This situation is sometimes not easily noticeable to the naked eye and is generally caused by poor contact. To ensure the car starts smoothly, a strong current is required to ignite the engine, which causes the dash cam to lose power, resulting in frequent restarts.
Last time I drove back to my hometown on rough roads, I encountered the same issue—the dashcam kept restarting like it was dancing. After checking for a while, I found that the cigarette lighter socket was loose, causing power interruptions and restarts due to poor contact when bumping. Later, I switched to powering it from the fuse box, and it became much more stable. You should also check if the car charger head or USB cable is aged or damaged, as oxidized contact points can cause this too. Some dashcams come with built-in backup batteries, but when they age, they can't handle brief power losses, and frequent automatic restarts can seriously damage the memory card. I suggest securing the power cable first, trying a new data cable, and checking if the dashcam battery is swollen. These are things you can handle yourself, saving a trip to the repair shop.
