Why does the car jerk when shifting gears?

Experiencing jerking when shifting gears is a common occurrence, but it still requires timely inspection and repair. Jerking during gear shifts significantly reduces driving comfort. Below is relevant information about gear shifting: Gears: The drive shaft of the tires has gears of different ratios. When the engine speed remains constant, engaging gears of different sizes (different gear ratios) with the engine means that larger gears achieve lower circumferential speeds compared to smaller gears. Torque: According to torque principles, in lower gears where the gears are larger, the engine drives a larger radius with a smaller one, allowing the car to obtain greater driving force. In higher gears, the engine drives a smaller radius, resulting in faster circumferential speed—meaning the car moves faster but with less torque, i.e., less driving force. Therefore, shifting gears in a car essentially changes the transmission gears.
