Why Does the Brake Hub Get Hot?
1 Answers
Automotive hub overheating can be attributed to the following reasons: Wheel Hub Bearing Wear: Excessive tightness during wheel hub bearing assembly or abnormal wear can cause the car's hub to overheat and may even burn out the bearing. Insufficient Bearing Lubrication: If the temperature becomes too high, the grease inside the bearing can melt and leak out, affecting braking performance and leading to hub overheating. Abnormal Brake Caliper Return: If the brake caliper fails to return properly, it can cause the brake pads to lock, keeping them in constant friction with the brake disc, resulting in brake drag. In such cases, the temperature of both the brake drum and the hub will rise accordingly.
