Why does the BMW X5 make a hissing noise at high speeds?

Based on the analysis of the engine structure, there are several possible causes for this abnormal noise: Foreign objects inside the crankshaft pulley, causing friction against the front engine cover and resulting in noise; damage to the engine crankcase forced ventilation valve, creating negative pressure inside the crankcase, which leads to the front crankshaft oil seal sucking in air and producing sound; abnormal noise from internal mechanical components of the engine, such as the timing chain or gears. Troubleshooting: Since the crankcase forced ventilation valve of this engine is integrated into the valve cover, the entire valve cover assembly was replaced. After reassembly and restarting the engine, the abnormal noise disappeared. Repeated test drives showed no further issues, and the fault was resolved.
