Why does the BMW drivetrain malfunction after replacing spark plugs?
1 Answers
BMW cars may experience drivetrain malfunctions after spark plug replacement due to the use of incompatible spark plug models, where excessively long spark plugs can cause drivetrain system failures. Spark plug replacement procedure: Open the hood, lift the engine's plastic cover, remove the high-voltage ignition wires, and mark each cylinder's position to avoid confusion. Use a spark plug socket to sequentially remove the spark plugs. During removal, check for external debris like leaves or dust and ensure thorough cleaning. Place the new spark plug into the spark plug hole, hand-tighten it for several turns, then use the socket to fully tighten. Reinstall the high-voltage ignition wires according to the firing order and secure the cover plate.
