Why Does Overfilling Motorcycle Transmission Oil Cause Leakage?
1 Answers
Motorcycle transmission oil overfilling leads to leakage because excessive oil can cause oil channeling, increased oil pressure, or heightened oil flow resistance. Excessive oil causes channeling: Too much oil in the crankcase, which has a vent pipe, can lead to oil channeling. The increased crankcase pressure can easily cause oil seals to leak due to the high oil pressure. Additionally, it affects heat dissipation, increases crankshaft resistance, and consequently raises fuel consumption. Increased oil pressure: This can result in oil leakage from seals or vent pipes. In severe cases, excess oil might even enter the combustion chamber, burn, and emit blue smoke from the exhaust, creating a false impression of oil burning. Heightened oil flow resistance: When too much oil is added to the engine, it increases the oil flow resistance and raises internal gas pressure. This creates a counterforce that reduces engine output power. The piston struggles more during downward strokes, accelerating cylinder wear and reducing power.
