Why do some cars have only one reverse light?
1 Answers
Most modern cars are equipped with only one reverse light on the right side, while only a few vehicles have two brake lights. The specific reasons are as follows: 1. Improving visibility on the passenger side: When reversing, the driver's side visibility is hardly affected, as the brake lights and width markers provide sufficient illumination. However, visibility on the passenger side is poorer, requiring the white light from the reverse light to enhance it. 2. Preventing confusion with brake lights: Having a single reverse light makes it more noticeable to drivers behind and helps avoid confusion with brake lights. In many developed countries, having only one reverse light is mandated by law.
