Why Do Hybrid Vehicles Lack Start-Stop Functionality?
1 Answers
Hybrid vehicles inherently come with an automatic engine start-stop feature, eliminating the need for an additional start-stop function. Introduction to the Principle of Automatic Start-Stop: During temporary stops while driving (e.g., waiting at a red light), the engine automatically shuts off. When it's time to proceed, the system automatically restarts the engine. Introduction to the Automatic Start-Stop Method: The engine is shut off just before coming to a complete stop, or if the vehicle is stationary, continue pressing the brake pedal. An indicator light appears on the display, and the tachometer needle moves to the READY position. Releasing the brake pedal causes the engine to restart. If the parking brake is engaged or the hill-start assist is activated, the engine only restarts upon pressing the accelerator pedal, and the indicator light turns off.
