Why Did Calsonic Kansei Change Its Name to Marelli?

Calsonic Kansei Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CK Holdings") acquired the Italian company Marelli. Upon completion of the transaction, CK Holdings was renamed Marelli CK Holdings Co., Ltd. Additional details are as follows: Marelli CK Holdings Co., Ltd.: Through the merger of the two companies' operations, Marelli CK Holdings Co., Ltd. became the world's seventh-largest independent automotive parts supplier in terms of revenue. Its establishment marked a decisive step for both parties towards becoming a globally leading diversified Tier 1 supplier. Leveraging greater scale, robust financial strength, and high complementarity in product lines and distribution networks, the merged company is committed to delivering superior services to global customers. It will operate across nearly 200 plants and R&D centers in Europe, Japan, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific region.
As a veteran with over 20 years in the automotive parts industry, I witnessed the entire process of Calsonic Kansei being acquired by Marelli. Back in 2019, Calsonic Kansei, as a core supplier to Nissan, indeed had strong air conditioning and cooling technologies. But Marelli, being an Italian global top-ten giant, naturally rebranded after the acquisition. Nowadays, the Marelli air conditioning compressors you see during car repairs essentially still use Calsonic Kansei's technology, just with a new logo. Such industry consolidations are quite common, similar to how Bosch absorbed certain business lines of ZF.
