Why Can't the Volkswagen Window Open?
2 Answers
Reasons why the Volkswagen window cannot open include damage to the window lift motor or poor contact in the electrical wiring harness, motor overheating protection, blocked guide rails, or aging of the rubber seals. Damage to the window lift motor or poor contact in the electrical wiring harness: If there is a burnt smell when holding down the window button or unusual noises inside the door panel, it may indicate damage to the window lift motor components. It is recommended to directly visit a 4S shop or auto repair shop to replace the window lift motor. Motor overheating protection: To protect the power supply circuit, the window lift motor is equipped with an overheating protection mechanism. If the components overheat due to some reason, the motor will enter an overheating protection state, causing the window lift to malfunction. Simply wait for the motor to cool down. Blocked guide rails or aging of the rubber seals: This can be caused by mechanical jamming. After cleaning the guide rails, apply lubricating oil. If the fault is caused by aging or deformation of the glass rubber seals, the sealing strips need to be replaced.
Last time I drove to pick up a friend, I found that the passenger side window wouldn't respond no matter how many times I pressed the button, which was quite embarrassing. After checking at home, I discovered it was a blown fuse and replaced it with a new one. Actually, it's quite common for Volkswagen windows to get stuck and not move up or down. Most of the time, it's due to a problem with the window regulator motor, especially in older models that have been used for a long time. Additionally, if sand gets into the window tracks or there's no lubricant, the glass can get stuck. It could also be because the remote key fob's battery is dead, causing the central locking to disable the windows. The most troublesome issue is a faulty control module, which requires removing the door panel to inspect the wiring. It's recommended not to force the switch when this happens. If you can't open the window during rainy weather, take it to a repair shop immediately to prevent water from short-circuiting the interior electronics.
