Why Can't the Gearbox Engage?
1 Answers
There are several reasons why a gearbox may fail to engage: 1. Gear lever malfunction: The spherical working surface at the lower end of the gear lever may have worn out, preventing it from controlling the shift fork, which can lead to difficulty in disengaging gears and failure to engage. If the positioning components of the gear lever's ball joint lose functionality, it cannot accurately control the gear position, significantly increasing the likelihood of engagement failure. 2. Incomplete clutch disengagement: When the gearbox's shifting mechanism is functioning normally, another possible reason for the vehicle's inability to engage gears is incomplete clutch disengagement. Only when the clutch has appropriate separation and free play can gear engagement operate correctly.
