Why can't the automatic transmission of the new BenBen engage?

Changan BenBen automatic transmission cannot engage due to three issues: the gear being locked, the vehicle not being fully braked, or the vehicle not being powered. Below is a detailed analysis of the specific reasons: Gear being locked: When the car's gear lock is engaged, the gear lever cannot be moved, thus preventing gear engagement. Not fully braked: If the vehicle is not fully braked when parking and the gear is directly shifted into P, causing gear braking instead of brake braking, the gear cannot be engaged. Vehicle not powered: When the vehicle is not powered, the automatic transmission enters self-protection mode, also preventing gear engagement.
I drive the new Benben automatic transmission, and I also encountered the issue of not being able to shift gears a while ago. In such cases, don’t panic—check things one by one. The most easily overlooked aspect is whether the foot brake is fully depressed; with electronic gear shifts, the computer won’t allow shifting if the brake isn’t pressed deeply. Check if the gear lever is stuck—sometimes in new cars, sticking is caused by burrs on the decorative panel. Pay special attention to whether the gear indicator lights on the instrument cluster are lit. If all the gear indicator lights are off, it’s likely that the microswitch under the shift assembly is faulty. If the gear indicator lights show normally but the car doesn’t move, the transmission computer might have frozen—turning off the engine and restarting after ten minutes usually fixes it. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to visit a 4S shop to read the fault codes. Intermittent faults in this car are often caused by water ingress in the wiring harness connectors.
