Why are the ABS and anti-skid lights on in the Lavida?

The simultaneous illumination of the ABS and anti-skid lights in the Lavida may be caused by sensor damage or ABS circuit failure. Sensor damage: Damaged sensors prevent the ABS computer from receiving accurate speed signals, triggering the warning lights. It is recommended to inspect and repair the sensors. ABS circuit failure: A short circuit in the wiring can cause this issue. Simply check the wiring. The anti-skid light comes on as a secondary effect when the ABS light is activated. It is advisable to have a detailed inspection at a repair shop. Function of ABS: Maximizes braking efficiency, reducing braking time and distance; effectively prevents vehicle skidding and fishtailing during emergency braking, ensuring good driving stability; allows steering during emergency braking, maintaining good steering control; avoids severe friction between tires and the ground, reducing tire wear.
I have experience with the ABS and anti-skid lights suddenly illuminating while driving my Lavida. Last time this happened to me on the highway, I distinctly felt the brake pedal become harder. Later at the repair shop, the mechanic said the wheel speed sensor was clogged with mud, and cleaning it fixed the issue. Actually, 90% of such faults originate from sensors – either covered in oil/dirt or having poor wiring connections. Also, water ingress into the ABS control module can cause both lights to activate. My advice: first pull over safely and restart the vehicle. If the lights remain on, immediate inspection is mandatory. Otherwise, wheels may lock during emergency braking making steering impossible, which is especially dangerous in rain/snow conditions.
