Why are BMW and Audi not in F1?

BMW and Audi are not participating in F1 for the following reasons: 1. Audi: F1 cars must adhere to the same technical regulations, requiring all cars to be rear-wheel drive. Audi's Quattro models are all-wheel drive, and the brand lacks experience in manufacturing rear-wheel-drive cars, hence its absence from F1. 2. BMW: BMW withdrew from F1 not only due to poor performance but also because its team's weakness in aerodynamics made subsequent races extremely challenging. For most of the season, the team struggled in difficult conditions. Since exiting F1 in 2009, BMW has shifted its focus to Formula E (FE) racing, where it has become highly competitive in the electric racing sector.
