Which Way to Loosen Car Tire Bolts?
1 Answers
For small passenger car tires, the rule is 'lefty loosey, righty tighty.' For large trucks, the left-side tires follow 'lefty tighty, righty loosey,' while the right-side tires are 'righty tighty, lefty loosey.' Precautions for tire replacement: When replacing tires, pay attention to the operation sequence. When tightening the bolts, avoid tightening them sequentially in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Instead, tighten them in a diagonal order. Typically, five bolts secure the tire. It's recommended to first tighten four bolts diagonally before installing the fifth one. During tightening, ensure each bolt is turned the same number of times to guarantee even force distribution. Tire replacement cycle: Vehicle tires are generally recommended to be replaced every 50,000 to 80,000 kilometers. As long as there are no obvious cracks or signs of aging on the tire surface, you can check the distance between the tread wear indicators in the main tread grooves and the wear layer. There are also triangular wear indicators on the tire crown. If the wear level aligns with the indicators in the tread grooves or the crown markers, it indicates that the tire needs replacement.
