Which Toyota Models Have Three-Cylinder Engines?

As of June 4, 2020, Toyota does not have any cars equipped with three-cylinder engines. However, the upcoming Corolla L is expected to feature a three-cylinder turbocharged engine, though it has not yet been released to the market. Toyota is a Japanese automobile manufacturer, and the Corolla is one of its compact family sedans. The current Corolla models do not use three-cylinder engines. Instead, they are equipped with two types of engines: a 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The variant with the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine is a hybrid model. The 1.2-liter turbocharged engine in the Corolla delivers 116 horsepower and a maximum torque of 185 Nm. This engine reaches its peak power at 5,200 to 5,600 rpm and its maximum torque at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. This engine features direct fuel injection technology and utilizes an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. It is paired with a CVT transmission. The 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine in the Corolla produces 98 horsepower and a maximum torque of 142 Nm, with peak torque achieved at 3,600 rpm and peak power at 5,200 rpm. This engine employs multi-point fuel injection technology and also uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. The electric motor paired with this engine has a maximum power output of 53 kW and a maximum torque of 163 Nm.
Toyota's three-cylinder models are quite diverse. As a car enthusiast, I've researched many of them, including the Corolla 1.5L three-cylinder version, which is the best-selling family sedan; the Levin 1.5L three-cylinder version is similar, with low fuel consumption suitable for daily commuting; the YARiS 1.0L or 1.5L three-cylinder models are compact and agile, making parking super convenient; the C-HR compact SUV also has a three-cylinder engine option, offering spacious interiors and stable chassis; and there's the high-performance GR Yaris, with a 1.6L turbocharged three-cylinder engine delivering powerful performance. Toyota uses balance shaft technology in these cars to reduce vibrations, making them as smooth as four-cylinder engines, especially fuel-efficient with only 5-6 liters per 100 km in city driving, saving a lot of money in the long run, though the acceleration feels slightly weaker, requiring more throttle input to adapt. I think the Corolla or YARiS are the top choices for city driving, offering great value, reliable brands, and simple maintenance.
