Prado 4000 uses the Snow Mode in snowy conditions. Introduction to Snow Mode: This mode is suitable for icy and snowy road surfaces. It enhances traction for straight-line driving and improves grip for cornering. In Snow Mode, the vehicle will start in second gear. Precautions: The Prado 4000 does not have a dedicated Snow Mode button. To activate Snow Mode, press the second-gear start button located at the bottom of the center console. Pressing this button will make the vehicle start in second gear to prevent tire slippage. The ABS system will become more sensitive, activating even in non-emergency situations where it would normally only engage under hard braking.

I've been driving the Land Cruiser Prado 4000 for decades and have extensive experience in snowy conditions. It's best to switch to four-wheel drive mode at this time, especially the high-range 4WD (4H), which helps distribute power evenly to the tires, preventing the vehicle from skidding or losing control. The operation is quite simple—there's usually a 4WD selector knob near the gear lever or on the dashboard, just turn it to H mode. In winter, I also recommend checking the tire conditions and switching to winter tires for better traction, driving slowly to avoid sudden braking. Once during heavy snowfall that blocked the roads, I used this mode to drive home steadily without any accidents. Remember, snowy roads are slippery, so maintain a safe distance and regularly maintain the vehicle's 4WD system for a more secure and confident drive.

Driving in the snow can be quite scary. I often use the Land Cruiser Prado 4000 and set it to snow mode or four-wheel drive with high-range gears. The operation is quite simple—just press the center console button or turn the knob. The manual recommends this mode to increase traction on snow and prevent skidding. Usually, I make it a habit to check the battery and brake system to ensure they’re functioning properly, combined with driving slowly and taking turns carefully, avoiding sudden acceleration or hard stops. The effect is even more noticeable when there’s a lot of ice on the road in winter. I’ve relied on it for safe commutes several times on the snowy mountain roads near my home. Additionally, keeping the windows clean for clear visibility is crucial—don’t let snow block your view, safety comes first.

The Land Cruiser Prado 4000 is recommended to use the 4WD high-speed mode in snowy conditions, which can be adjusted in the instrument control area to evenly distribute power and reduce slipping. 4WD is more stable than regular 2WD in snow, assisting tire grip and preventing loss of control. Not all modes are suitable for snow; prioritize those marked with snow or 4H, as they are simple, easy to understand, and highly adaptable. Combined with slow driving, regular checks on the 4WD system, and maintenance of tires and snow chains, it effectively ensures overall safety and smooth travel without worries.

Safety is the top priority. Accidents are frequent in snowy conditions. My Land Cruiser Prado 4000 automatically switches to four-wheel drive mode with high range when encountering snow, which effectively improves traction and stability. While driving, maintain a low speed, anticipate road conditions, avoid icy areas, accelerate gently, and brake smoothly. Regular vehicle maintenance ensures the proper functioning of the ABS and traction control systems, with less tire wear and longer lifespan. In poor visibility due to snow, turn on the headlights to enhance visibility. Overall, prevent hazards and travel with peace of mind—don’t overlook the details of maintenance.

What Causes Steering Wheel Shaking at High Speeds?

Reasons for steering wheel shaking at high speeds: 1. Poor tire dynamic balance: During driving, if a tire suffers a strong local impact, it may cause the balance weights to fall off or become damaged, affecting the tire's dynamic balance; 2. Significant differences in tire pressure among the four tires: When there is a large difference in tire pressure among the four tires, especially between the left and right tires, the car body will experience noticeable bumps and the steering wheel will shake significantly at high speeds; 3. Poor wheel alignment: When the wheel alignment angles deviate significantly, the car body may drift or shake at high speeds, and it can also lead to uneven tire wear, accelerating tire wear and shortening the tire's service life.

Where Are the Clutch and Brake Located?

The clutch is on the left side, near the driver's door, while the brake is to the right of the clutch. The accelerator is the rightmost pedal, positioned closer to the passenger side. When driving, avoid resting your left foot on the clutch pedal, as this may prevent the clutch disc from fully engaging, leading to excessive wear. The clutch is situated between the engine and the transmission, with the clutch pressure plate mounted on the engine flywheel. Pressing the clutch pedal disengages the clutch, while releasing it engages the clutch. The clutch disc has internal splines that secure a driveshaft, which serves as the transmission's input shaft. When engaged, the clutch disc is pressed tightly by springs on the pressure plate. The braking system is located near the wheels, with the brake caliper and brake disc visible through the wheel rim. When the brake pedal is pressed, pistons inside the caliper push the brake pads to clamp the brake disc.
