Which is More Practical, MPV or SUV?

It depends on the owner's actual usage. If considering comfort and off-road capability, an SUV is recommended. If prioritizing interior space and comfort, an MPV is suggested. Here are some differences between MPVs and SUVs: In terms of appearance: MPVs have a bulkier shape, while 7-seat SUVs still retain a sporty feel. Undeniably, MPV models suffer from the disadvantage of monotonous styling, and manufacturers invest fewer resources in them, resulting in fewer MPV options with relatively poor design aesthetics. In terms of seating layout: MPVs are specifically designed for 7 seats, whereas SUVs are extensions of 5-seat models, with less consideration given to the practicality of the third-row seats, which are more for emergency use.
I think choosing between an MPV and an SUV depends on your family situation. After our second child was born, we switched to an MPV, and the biggest advantage is how easy it is to access the third row—sliding doors prevent kids and elderly from bumping their heads when getting in and out, and the second-row captain seats can rotate 360 degrees, making feeding and diaper changes possible without stopping. On weekends when we take the grandparents and kids out, even with seven people on board, we can still fit two strollers, thanks to the deep well-designed trunk. However, when I borrowed my friend’s Highlander for camping, it was a game-changer—the trunk could fit a grill and tent while still holding bicycles upright, and folding down the second row turned it into a double bed. My take? If you often travel with three generations, go for an MPV; if you love road trips, an SUV is tougher and more versatile.
