When riding a motorcycle uphill, it is generally recommended to start with 2nd gear. If there is insufficient power, then shift down to 1st gear. Below are the techniques for riding uphill and shifting gears on a motorcycle: Techniques for Riding Uphill: Use your right hand to grip the front brake lever or step on the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward. After mounting the bike, firmly hold the clutch lever with your left hand. Shift into 1st gear. Depending on the steepness of the slope, increase the throttle to raise the engine speed to medium or low-medium, then slowly release the clutch lever to the half-clutch position. For very steep slopes, you can use both the front and rear brakes to stop the vehicle before starting again. Gear Shifting Techniques: With the clutch fully engaged, press the gear shift lever downward once to shift into 1st gear. From 1st gear, lift the gear shift lever upward once to shift into 2nd gear. The same applies for 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears—all are shifted by lifting the lever upward. To downshift, press the lever downward. The neutral gear is located between 1st and 2nd gears. To shift from 1st to neutral, lift the gear shift lever halfway. To shift from 2nd to neutral, press the gear shift lever downward halfway.
