There are two Mustang brands, one is China's Sichuan Mustang, and the other is Ford Mustang. Below are the detailed introductions of the Mustang brands: Chinese Mustang: In the late 1980s, Mustang Automobile was born amidst the wave of reform and opening up, becoming one of the earliest automobile manufacturers in China. In August 2006, it was renamed Sichuan Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd., and after a share restructuring in December 2011, it was officially renamed Sichuan (Mustang) Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. The company has an annual production capacity of nearly 200,000 vehicles and consists of two major companies: buses and passenger vehicles. Ford Mustang: In 1962, Ford developed the first concept car of the Mustang—the Mustang I concept car, which was a mid-engine, two-seater sports car. The name Mustang was chosen to commemorate the legendary U.S. military P-51 Mustang fighter from World War II. Due to the low practicality of the two-seater design of the Mustang I concept car, it was rejected by Ford's senior management. In October 1963, Ford introduced the Mustang II concept car, changing the layout to a front-engine, four-seater configuration.
